Carrying a drowsy Mohana blanketed in the chunky pink throw, constantly murmuring proceedings about a litigation, Omar rushed them inside a moderately sized residence. “This is not extremely drowsy, this is torturous!” he growled in a strained whisper to the tall young man approaching the hallway to welcome him
Guiding Omar through the mud room, Jasper offered in his own hushed whisper “That’s what Offeapa does, but it works efficiently”
“Definitely efficient in threatening my existence” Omar grumbled in complaint, motioning to the petite editor-in-chief in his arms
“Yet here you are, still surviving and carrying her around” a woman’s stern voice commented from the passage ahead, her snow blue eyes piercing through Omar
“Gioia” murmuring assuredly, Jasper wrapped an arm around Zaniha’s waist, tugging her to himself. Easing the thick tension in the air, he voiced words of comfort “She’s nearly there” motioning to the bundled Mohana whose cheeks were glowing with color
“Ya” forming a mumble only for her husband to hear Zaniha gripped on to his hand. Giving a burning glare to the designer celebrity, she looked away dismissing his presence altogether
Caressing her small back, Jasper guided Zaniha inside the room, whispering encouragingly “It’ll be alright. Let’s get her settled”
On an acknowledging hum, the delectable woman, her dark hair tied in a voluminous top knot, stepped ahead in the dimly lit room to pull at the covers from the bed.
Exchanging a glance with Jasper, following behind them in the room, Omar carefully laid Mohana against the plump pillows. Throwing the coverlet over her shoulders, he gently circled her temple whispering “You’re comfortable?”
Unable to grasp the changes around her, Mohana registered the only voice that mattered. Clasping lightly on to his wrist, she gave a murmur of affirmation “Hmm”
“Am right here and we are together but am going to talk to our friend for a few minutes and then we’ll come back to our case, alright?” whispering gently to the drowsy woman, hovering above her as she lay reclined, Omar stood nearly paused, for the other couple in the room to share a bemused glance.
On a light stir as Mohana turned to face him, increasing the distance between them, Omar stepped a few good inches from the bed. Reviewing his tall frame slightly bent sideways, his hand in captivation of smaller ones, Zaniha bubbled with annoyance. Turning around to her husband, she furiously whispered “What is he doing?”
“Gioia, dolcezza, let’s cut him some slack” Jasper coaxed, assuredly blinking his eyes he caressed her back
Missing the hushed exchange between the couple, Omar glanced around them, checking on the baby boy “Jehan?”
“Asleep. Must take after someone who likes taking naps” Zaniha bit out the words, painfully looking at Omar as she approached his side
“Yeah, it was a long journey and what better use of my time” Omar offhandedly shrugged as Zaniha felt for Mohana’s forehead to interpret her temperature
Seemingly almost in partnership to his words, a low hum came from Mohana, making Zaniha quickly pull her hand away and glance at her husband. The room fell silent, as they all waited for any other input, but Mohana chose not to elaborate further
Partially easing the faint grip Mohana had on Omar’s hand, Zaniha took hold of her wrist, lightly pressing a thumb to capture the pulse. Omar stood indifferently besides them, not paying any specific heed to the unwell Mohana who was now weakly latched on to his hand with only one of hers.
Heaving a sigh in surrender, Zaniha spoke to the tall looming designer celebrity “Sit down”
In sync with his wife’s near command, Jasper hinted with a light nod of his head for Omar to take seat besides Mohana. But stretching their loosely locked hands, Omar held rooted to his conviction “I’d rather not. I’ll have to leave, I have a few things that need looking into. She had two spurts of freezing chills one likely for six-ish minutes and then another for less than a minute”
Visibly upset Zaniha glanced at her husband in a furious complaint. Assuring her with his eyes, Jasper spoke to Omar “Besides those two instances she’s been maintaining her temperature?”
Frowning at the unsaid exchange between the couple, Omar explained “Ya, that’s what it looks like. But she’s.. this is a mess. No one can handle this and it’s been way too long. I don’t think she’s getting what she wants..” he ran a jagged hand through his hair “..I just need some sort of confirmation that this is going to get over soon and the babies are going to let her recover fine”
“What?!” Zaniha blurted in utter surprise, her beautiful blue eyes filled with disappointment as she dismissed the designer celebrity once again to look demandingly at Jasper
“Dolcezza, we didn’t get a chance to discuss this. There’s a possibility that there might be an expectation of a baby. I suggested Vepaz but Cart confirmed from Omar that there wasn’t an inclination towards it” Jasper attempted to ease the shock that shone on her face
But blatantly overriding any calming effort Jasper was attempting to establish, Omar provided a correction “Babies. Likely multiple. Maybe twins. We haven’t told anyone yet, I only had Jasper confirm if nothing would interfere with her recovery”
Staring at the dainty wrist in her fingers, Zaniha glanced at the unwell Mohana who lay resting against the plush pillows, her eyes swooped close. Frowning deeply, Zaniha looked up at Omar Shaan in complete disbelief “She’s not expecting a baby”
“It doesn’t show this early in the pregnancy” Omar rattled off, informing on his hard earned knowledge from the passerby folks in the Sarrata campus
Glancing helplessly at her husband Zaniha nearly scowled at Omar who still stood inclined sideways, his hand entwined in a loose grip with Mohana. Conflicted at his confidence, she challenged “And you know?”
“Yeah. Of course. Who else would know except the both of us” Omar stated without a doubt
Giving him a light nod, Zaniha shared her medical insight “Alright. Sure. Mohana is on a path to recovery but it is significantly delayed. There are many parts to it and you will be blamed for all of them. If you had a head on your shoulders you would not have kidnapped her”
“I didn’t literally kidnap her” Omar defended and on the low hum of approval “Mmm” which instantly came from the dozy Mohana, he glanced at Jasper expectantly
Instead Zaniha glared at him in response “Exact same words! No wonder you and Liam are friends! And Jasper may have sided with him, but he isn’t going to side with you at all. Because as it happens, while you were taking your never ending naps and refusing to read any messages, I had enough time to convince my husband!”
Omar looked between Jasper and Zaniha “You can’t do that just because he’s your husband. That’s not fair, Jasper has to stay unbiased. I didn’t kidnap her, that wasn’t the point”
“It’s not unbiased if he is siding with you. If you didn’t kidnap her, where is Ethan?” Zaniha smirked extremely proud of her achievement in countering the opposition
Taken aback Omar disdainfully repeated the name “Ethan?! Who cares where Ethan is! I am here”, “mm yaah” a whisper accompanied with a pleased sigh escaped Mohana, almost supporting her abductor’s claim
Halting their back and forth, everyone’s attention got focused on her again but breathing in a gradual rhythm she remained silent, contributing nothing additional
“Unless the editor-in-chief for Sophista has given you the role of her steward, Ethan is in charge of taking care of her” Zaniha relayed with a sugary smile
Glancing at Jasper, Omar attempted a conviction “But even Jasper doesn’t approve of Ethan”
Zaniha looked at her husband with a deep frown but Jasper coaxed “I won’t side with him, overall. But where Ethan is concerned, I don’t really have an option”
She protested her stand “What is wrong with all the men I know! Ethan is the most caring..”
“No, Gioia..” Jasper interjected pulling Zaniha in the circle of his arms “..don’t, he’s out of scope. Let’s focus on our culprit. Omar, has become a kidnapper, he didn’t read your message and you’re upset from him”
“Ya!” Zaniha’s complaining eyes turned back at Omar “It’s all because of you! The temperature variations strengthen yinar, these spells of freezing shudders are weakening her response and further delaying the recovery”
Omar outrightly landed his refusal “We’re not managing these drugs anymore, there has to be another way than giving her more doses to get out of this ridiculous freezing phase”
“The meds provide her with the aminos which release energy to strengthen her and their main undertaking is to ensure recovery can be enabled. She doesn’t need more drugs in her system” Jasper clarified, soothing Zaniha’s hand coaxing her to go easy on their identified culprit
Heaving a displeased sigh in his embrace Zaniha pouted in complaint to her husband “Jas, he kidnapped her”, “He’ll fix it, gioia” Jasper persuaded her within their own whispers
Turning around to face Omar, Zaniha spoke dejectedly “Get into a habit of sleeping less and reading important messages. She needs heat”
Omar incredulously looked between Jasper and Zaniha “Of course she needs heat, she’s nearly freezing cold”
